FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Waswanipi, Qc – June 2, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Waswanipi detachment, along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec, executed three search warrants on May 29th and May 30th 2025, that were granted by the Justice of the Peace.

Two dwellings and a vehicle were searched that resulted in finding evidence related to trafficking of illicit substances. During the search, a total of 55.6 grams of white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, 17 white pills suspected to be methamphetamines (speed), over $3,000 in cash money, drug dealing paraphernalia and nearly 10 firearms were seized. The estimated street value of the drugs seized totals under $6,000 CAD.

One male individual, Gerald Ratte (65) was arrested and charged with Possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. He was also charged with unsafe storage of firearms and having possession of money not exceeding $5000 knowing it was obtained by the commission under the Criminal Code of Canada. Ratte was transferred to the Amos Detention Center and has a court appearance onJune 2, 2025.
