Cree Nation of Chisasibi – Eeyou Eenou Police Force arrested a youth with aggravated assault in connection with an ongoing investigation into the week of stabbing in Cree Nation of Chisasibi.

Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police working out of the Chisasibi detachment received a call for service on the early morning of Thursday, July 9, 2026, regarding a young male who had entered a residence covered in blood. The caller had stated that the young male had been stabbed and requested police assistance.

When the Eeyou Eenou Police and Sûreté de Quebec Officers arrived, they learned that a youth male had entered the residence with injuries consistent with a recent stabbing injury.

The victim was transported to the local hospital for treatment of his injuries and was later medivac to south for further medical treatment.

Members of the Sûreté du Québec (Major Crimes unit) were requested for assistance and became involved with the ongoing investigation.

As a result of continued investigation, police learned that the male victim and a male suspect had been involved in a physical confrontation, during which the victim was assaulted with a knife.

A male youth suspect was identified, located, and arrested without incident.

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2 counts
  • Utter threats
  • Attempted murder

Due to the protection listed in the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada, the name of the youth suspect cannot be released.

Youth appeared on Saturday July 11, 2026, and will re-appear on July 13, 2026, again with the courthouse of Amos.
