FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chisasibi, Eeyou Istchee – November 4, 2026 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force (EEPF) of the Chisasibi detachment along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) executed a search warrant on the evening of November 3rd 2026 at a residence in the community following an ongoing investigation involving firearms.
Following the search, officers located and seized: a 22-caliber sawed-off rifle; a 22-caliber rifle; a 12 gauge semi-automatic; an air soft pistol with magazine; ammunition and a black pistol frame.
One youth is currently detained and awaiting appearance before the Crown, facing charges of:
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm
- Careless use of a firearm
- Discharging a firearm with intent
- Unsafe storage of firearms
Due to the protection listed in the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada, the name of the suspect cannot be released.
Eeyou Eenou Police Force would like to remind everyone that illegal possession and improper storage of firearms and ammunition are offences by law under the Canada’s Criminal Code.
