FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chisasibi, Eeyou Istchee – May 14, 2026 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Chisasibi detachment along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec intercepted a vehicle on May 13th, 2026 that was suspected to be transporting a large amount of alcohol in the community.

A resident of neighbouring community Whapmagoostui was found with a significantly large amount of alcohol in their possession in the vehicle. Officers seized a total of:
– 47 units of 750 ml bottles of 40% alc/vol
– 3 units of 375 ml bottles of 40% alc/vol

As the items were suspected to reach Whapmagoostui, a fly-in community, the street value of this seizure rises to approximately $14,700.
