FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chisasibi, Eeyou Istchee – April 11, 2026 – Following an extensive drug trafficking investigation that has now concluded, the Eeyou Eenou Police Force (EEPF), in partnership with the Service de Police de Lac Simon and the Sûreté du Québec, successfully obtained and executed a search warrant resulting in a significant drug seizure.

On April 10, 2026, at approximately 16h15, officers from the Eeyou Eenou Police Force, the Sûreté du Québec, and the Service de Police de Lac Simon conducted a coordinated search of a vehicle in the Lac Simon area. The operation was carried out safely and efficiently as part of a collaborative effort to disrupt drug trafficking activities.

During the search, police seized a total of 4,300 grams (4.3 kilograms) of a white substance suspected to be cocaine, consistent with drug trafficking offences. Two individuals were arrested without incident. The estimated street value of the seized substance is approximately $1,032,000.00 CAD.

As a result of this investigation, Alec Bobbish (63) and Lydia Bobbish (61) appeared before a judge and are facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Eeyou Eenou Police Force would like to extend sincere thanks to the Service de Police de Lac Simon and the Sûreté du Québec for their cooperation and vital assistance in bringing this operation to a successful conclusion.

EEPF also wishes to acknowledge and thank community members who provided information throughout this investigation. Public cooperation remains essential in combatting drug-related crime, ensuring healthier and safer communities for everyone.
