FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mistissini, Eeyou Istchee – January 30, 2026 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force along with the Sûreté du Québec’s Major Crimes Unit conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of two individuals believed to be involved in the fatal shooting that occurred on January 28th, 2026 in Mistissini.

Both suspects are facing charges of Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder. Their court appearance is scheduled for January 31st, 2026.

Due to the protections listed in the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada, the names of both youth suspects cannot be released.

We want to reassure the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community as the incident appears to be isolated.

We encourage anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward by contacting your local detachment or by calling the Eeyou Intelligence Drug Line at 1-833-343-7847. Our priority is to ensure the safety and protection of Eeyou Istchee and its communities by working together.
