FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mistissini, Qc – September 9, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Mistissini detachment along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec responded to a call received on the early morning of September 6th, 2025, stating that a person was shot by firearm at the Mistissini gas station on Queen street.
Arriving at the scene, officers found the young male victim laying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to the local clinic by ambulance. The victim was then transferred to Chibougamau hospital.
Sûreté du Québec’s Major Crimes Unit were contacted to assist with the investigation.
One suspect has been detained and is facing charges of attempted murder. Another suspect was also detained as a possible accomplice to the crime and is also facing criminal charges. Due to the protections listed in the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada, the names of both youth suspects cannot be released.
