Press Release – May 2, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chisasibi, Qc – May 2, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Chisasibi detachment along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec responded to a call on the morning of May 2nd regarding a vehicle that was spotted swerving between lanes.

Once patrol officers identified the vehicle, they signalled the driver to pull over, in which the driver refused. EEPF and SQ officers were then on pursuit within the community.

In an attempt to block the vehicle, EEPF placed a patrol car to stop it from going forward, in which the suspect hit the patrol vehicle and continued the pursuit. Officers were left with minimal options other than to use force.

The suspect, 21 (F), was arrested and is facing multiple charges including flight from a peace officer, aggravated assault (2), theft of a motor vehicle, impaired driving, dangerous operations of motor vehicle, and failure to stop at a scene of accident.

The safety of community members is our priority and we are thankful that these events were taken under control before anybody got hurt.
