FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Waswanipi, Qc – October 20, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Waswanipi detachment along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec executed a search warrant on a vehicle during the night of October 17, 2025, authorized by a Justice of the Peace.
The interception of a vehicle with suspicious behavior during a planned road safety operation led officers to the discovery of evidence related to illicit drug trafficking. Among the items seized were two ounces of white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, over 2700 pills suspected to be methamphetamines (speed), a quantity of cash and various drug trafficking paraphernalia.
One individual was arrested during the intervention. Patrick LEMIRE (48) has been formally charged with identity fraud under the Criminal Code and possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused remains in custody and has been transferred to the Amos Detention Center pending his next court appearance. The approximate street value of this seizure is $25,000.
