Press Release – Waswanipi, July 4, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Waswanipi, Qc – July 4th, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Waswanipi detachment along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec executed a search warrant on the morning of July 3, 2025 that was authorized by a Justice of the Peace.

The search of the residence led to the discovery of evidence related to illicit drug trafficking. Seized items included over half an ounce of a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, a quantity of cash money related to the offence, and drug-related paraphernalia.

One individual was arrested and had a phone appearance before a judge on July 3, 2025.

Michel Poucachiche (32) is detained and facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Additionally, the suspect had outstanding arrest warrants. He is transferred to the Amos Detention Center and has a scheduled court appearance on July 4th 2025.
