FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wemindji, Qc – November 22, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Wemindji detachment responded to a call received in the early morning at approximately 01h39 a.m. concerning a house fire in the community.
EEPF immediately attended the scene as the fire department was trying to fight the fire.
It was later discovered that two people were unaccounted for, unable to escape the residence.
At this moment, names cannot be released until the remains can be identified.
The Sûreté du Québec’s Major Crimes unit are sending a team of investigators. Members of Eeyou Eenou Police Force from neighboring detachments are also assisting.
