FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mistissini, Qc – August 11, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Mistissini detachment, along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec, were granted two search warrants by the Justice of Peace following extensive investigations on a home and vehicle.

In the early evening of August 9th 2025, the two searches led to a seizure of 9.5 grams of a white powdered substance believed to be cocaine, 5 firearms, 9 26oz bottles of 40% alc/vol, $2,045 in CAD currency, along with other drug paraphernalia equipment.

The estimated street value of this seizure is of $2,585.

One suspect (37 M) was arrested and is facing charges of Trafficking in Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm under section 86 of the Criminal Code and fines under Mistissini’s local by-laws for illegal sales of alcohol.

The name of the suspect cannot be released at this time as they have yet to appear before the Crown. The individual was released with a police undertaking and a promise to appear with a court date set for November 2025.
