FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Waswanipi, Qc – June 27, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Waswanipi detachment, along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec, were granted two search warrants by the Justice of Peace that were executed in the early morning of June 26th.

The search of the dwelling resulted in finding evidence related to trafficking of illicit substances and illicit cannabis. During the search, a total of over 314 grams of white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, 191 grams of cannabis, over $6,600 in cash money and drug dealing paraphernalia was seized.
The approximate street value of the seizure is of $35,000.

Doreen Blacksmith (59) was arrested and is facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act, Possession for Purpose of Distributing and Possession for Purpose of Selling under the Cannabis Act.

A warrant of remand was issued and the accused will be transferred to the Amos Detention Center, having a scheduled court appearance on June 27th.
