Press Release – Wemindji Qc, April 18, 2024

Wemindji, Qc– April 18, 2024– A team of investigators of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force working out of the Chisasibi detachment executed a search warrant at the Canada Post office in the community of Wemindji, Qc on April 15th, 2024. EEPF arrested one suspect and seized cocaine.

The search warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking. A shipment of drugs destined to an individual was subject of the search warrant.

As a result of the search, officers seized a quantity of what is suspected to be cocaine that was consistent with drug trafficking.

One suspect, female (30) of Wemindji was arrested without incident and is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking cocaine and Trafficking in Substance.

The suspect has since been released from police custody with a future court date appearance. The name of the accused is withheld by EEPF until charges have been formally sworn before the courts.
