Press Release – December 20, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mistissini, Qc – December 20, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Mistissini detachment along with officers of the Sûreté du Québec responded to a call received on the morning of December 20, 2025, and are suspecting a possible overdose.

Eeyou Eenou Police Force would like to remind the communities that unlike regulated substances, street drugs are not controlled. Their composition is often unknown and unpredictable. Many street drugs are found to be mixed with other substances, sometimes in dangerous or life-threatening quantities.

During the holidays, increased social gatherings and changes in routine can elevate the risk of accidental overdose, adverse reactions, and medical emergencies. A substance that appears familiar may contain unexpected additives, including potent opioids or other synthetic compounds.

Community members are encouraged to prioritize their health and safety, to look out for one another, and seek help without hesitation if a medical emergency is suspected. Early intervention saves lives.

For information on local support and harm-reduction resources, contact your local CMC. To report drug trafficking activity in your community, speak to an agent or leave a message by calling our Eeyou Intelligence Drug Line at 1-833-EIDRUGS (1-833-343-7847). All calls are 100% confidential 24/7.
